I suppose, although there are other ways to increase your combat level (like reading books and fighting people). It was probably for the best that you went to you assigned class though.

I should clarify that you can still go get dinner quickly to get food and do something else afterwards (e.g. go to the library or talk with people in the dorms)

Hitojo goes to dinner and hastily eats his meal. Once he's done, he goes to the library and checks out a book on knocking out opponents without harming them. If he can take the book to his dorm, do that and read it there. If not, read the book in the library then return to the dorm when its time to meet up with Genghis

OFF-TOPIC: Are there any stores in the academy, especially clothing stores? If not, when are students permitted to leave the academy, especially to buy something? I want Hitojo to have one of those robes from Star Wars to conceal his identity when he does shady business in the sidelines.

The academy runs similar to a college (as stated in the about section), so students can leave any time. Do note that if you try entering through the front door between 11pm-6am (past curfew) it'll be closed.

I think John will level up persuasion AND bring you along with your money to double the chances.

Does reading a book enough to level up persuasion take the whole time or will John still have time to do something else?

I'm still contemplating how reading books will work, mainly debating between these two options:

Option 1: Books take the entirety of 1 turn to read.
Option 2: Upon obtaining a new book, a number will be rolled between 1 and 3, which determines how long it will take to read.

I am probably going to go with Option 2, and the number of turns the book takes to read will determine the amount of EXP it provides. Either way, I will be the one to determine whether you manage to find a new book on the subject specified in the library.
